The Ravensthorpe Wildflower Show began in 1982 to celebrate and showcase the abundance of floral diversity of the region, and to highlight the importance of the area as an internationally recognised biosphere reserve and biodiversity hotspot.  Locals felt that the UNESCO listing of the Fitzgerald Biosphere originally in 1978 was not widely known or understood by many West Australians despite being the only listing for the state and a botanical wonderland.

From humble beginnings the Ravensthorpe Wildflower Show has grown considerably over the years in size and reputation with a program of events and of course the amazing flowers on display that continues to inspire amateurs and enthusiasts alike, which is attributed to the hard work and passion of the Ravensthorpe Wildflower Show Committee, the many volunteers and local community.

With the world class Fitzgerald River National Park and the unique Ravensthorpe Range, the region is host to some 20 per cent of Western Australia’s floral species– including some that are, as yet, undocumented.
