The Ravensthorpe Wildflower Show


The Ravensthorpe Wildflower Show is considered one of the largest Wildflower Shows in the world and attracts visitors from all parts of the globe.

A voluntary community group are committed to the regions wildflower preservation.  Each year for the past 36 years, volunteers collect under license up to 700 flowering species and often the amount on display can go higher.  The specimens collected are all flowering and botanically identified by botanists before going on display. There are over 30 licensed collectors who volunteer each year to carry out this for the public to enjoy.  No specimens are collected from with the Fitzgerald River National Park which lies with in the region.

The show always begins in the second week of September and runs for up to 14 days.

Events

During the WFS a Spring Festival has evolved with many associated activities being offered including  

  • 4WD Tag along Tours
  • Ranger guided walks into the Fitzgerald River National Park
  • Guided walks into the Ravensthorpe Ranges 
  • Orchid hunt to Kukenarup
  • Self guided drive
  • Walk maps
  • Galaxy Street Parade & Country Carnival Day

Ravensthorpe Regional Herbarium is the largest outside of the state Herbarium is located as an annexe to the Town Hall and open for guided tours during the show. Volunteers work all year collecting identifying &preserving specimens.The Ravensthorpe Regional Herbarium is a state of the art facility and a real asset for the community and state alike.

Art

If its art that you want then there are several art and photographic exhibitions taking place in Hopetoun and Ravensthorpe.


Finale - Gala Event 2018

The Annual Gala Event is held with guest speakers. This years event is a sit down Tapas event to be held at the Hopetoun Community Centre, with guest speakers: Angus stewart (Gardening Australia), Tony Turner “Other Honey” and Luke Sweedman Seed collector for Kings Park Botanic Gardens.  MC is Nathan McQuoid - Landscape Ecologist.
